Muhammad Haris '06 was recently given an alumni mini-grant for community service work at the Dar-us-Sukun orphanage. "Through the YES Alumni mini-grant program, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Dar-us-Sukun. Dar-us-Sukun is an orphanage for children with special needs. I facilitated a creative drawing competition for the children. I also played games with the children such as musical chairs. By the end of the day two children knew my name and they were calling me, brother. I felt overjoyed as I did something that brought smiles to their faces. It was wonderful and memorable experience for me and I am looking forward to participating in future activities at the orphanage."

Zahra Ramzan'05 volunteered with the Sultanabad Students Organization (SSO), whose goal is to work for the betterment of students by aiding them in school-related skills and extra curricular activities. SOS also conducts English and computer classes for primary school students. "Several YES alumni went to SSO on July 8th and conducted English classes. In my role, I served as a tutor for students in grades 6 to 8. All the students were very enthusiastic about speaking English. We taught them the basics with the help of creative writing. The classes began in Urdu but ended with the students listening to English sentences that were grammatically incorrect. Students had to make the corrections themselves. I
