Thirty alumni gathered in June to discuss how to organize themselves
and to initiate a plan for improving alumni activities. The students
created four committees after a thorough discussion of the group's
needs and interests. They are Community Service, Fund Raising, Media,
and Social Affairs. The alumni then nominated and elected committee
heads and divided themselves up into working groups for each committee.
The committees were asked to come up with a mission statement
for each group and provide objectives and project ideas for them
to work on. The committees will subsequently be in charge of organizing
and carrying out these projects. The Alumni club has agreed to meet
twice a month on Mondays at the AMIDEAST offices in Amman.
The YES Alumni Newsletter for the Near East
and Pakistan is produced by AMIDEAST. The YES scholarship program
is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Cultural and
Educational Affairs and administered by several organizations. AMIDEAST
is part of a consortium that includes AYUSA International, ASSE, ASPECT
Foundation, CCI, CIEE, iEARN, PIE, Sister Cities International, and
YFU. |
