Dear BIP Alumnae,
I am happy to have the
occasion via this letter to call attention to your achievements
as the initial class of Arab women business interns sponsored
by the U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative in 2004.
Your previous professional accomplishments and potential
to achieve a greater measure of prosperity for your country
and its regional neighbors were the basis upon which you
were selected for the U.S. Business Internship Program with
over 40 of America's top companies and law firms.
Your successful performance
in the demanding tasks of your U.S. internship then demonstrated
not only your personal professionalism but the quality of
human resources that you brought to the learning experience.
You have added to your professional and personal capacities
both as you contributed your regional perspective to your
American colleagues in the various companies where you interned
and as you absorbed new
methodologies, mindsets and skills from your mentors and
colleagues in these U.S. firms.
Now, a third level of
professional achievement is in your hands, that of fulfilling
your aspirations. You have already shown the wisdom and
courage to accept the charge underlying the internship,
that is, to return to your country, to your region, and
to bring to it your renewed energy and your fusion of Arab
and American perspectives and skills. We in the Middle East
Partnership Initiative will watch with full trust that you
will advance the role of women in business and society in
the Arab world as you employ your business acumen and knowledge
to benefit your home country. Indeed, we look to your successes
to guide us in adapting our Business Internship Program
so that the program can strengthen your successors. Together
we can create an ongoing partnership that meets the highest
expectations of our two peoples.
Sincerely,
Sonia J. Franceski
