Before every issue, The LBFP Link asks all alumnae to provide their own personal thoughts related to a particular topic. This issue’s “Question of the Quarter” is—
What is one type of employment that would be a “dream job” for you, and why?
Sarah Mansour (LBFP 2008, Kuwait)
I love this question. It made me wonder how far I want to go in my career and if I’m happy or not….To be honest, I have always wanted to be a lawyer and maybe someday become a judge. I think, for me, becoming a judge is my dream job. I'll have the joy and pleasure of solving people's problems and trying my best to make the world a better place.
The fact that we LBFP women experience several types of prejudice/stereotyping, being Arab, women, and [in most cases] Muslim, makes us understanding, tolerant people, who indeed can see with both eyes different points of view and multiple realities. I would aim not simply to “judge,” but to understand, analyze, criticize, apprehend, and create positive change to the best of my ability. I hope I get the chance one day to do that.
I would also like to develop my knowledge related to financial investments and the stock market, real estate, and media production.

The answer as far as what would be a “dream job” for me is Manager of Marketing, because it would provide me with the chance to meet new people, visit new places, and come up with new ideas to market products. And also because I find that I am good at marketing things.

A dream job for me would be one with flexible hours, lots of money, and lots of travel! That’s because I love traveling yet would love to have time to do other things that I enjoy, such as my hobbies…
Darin Hussein (LBFP 2008, West Bank)
I would like to be in a position that will allow me to contribute in improving and developing my country, making it more sustainable and easier to live in a peaceful environment. (The name of the position or what type of job is not as important as much as what I am able to do and how I can serve my country with my work.)
