Free Group Advising Sessions at the EducationUSA Resource Center
The EducationUSA Resource Center at AMIDEAST in Cairo offers a variety of free group advising sessions every month. These free sessions provide information about:
- Options for higher education in the United States, tips on selecting universities, and information about financial aid
- Specialized presentations for fields such as medicine, dentistry, business, law, pharmacy, and engineering
- Application support for online applications and workshops on writing personal statement essays
Date Announced for 2010 American College Fair
AMIDEAST will be hosting its annual American College Fair event this year in Cairo at Shepheard Hotel – Corniche El Nil on Friday October 8, 2009 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and Alexandria at the American Center in Azarita on Saturday October 9, 2010 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.
We encourage undergraduates, transfers and graduate students to attend this important event. American colleges and universities will be available with information about their programs and application procedures. Note that this event will not provide detailed information for the specialized fields of medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy. Parents, school students, school counselors are encouraged to attend this event. Admission is for free. Enclosed a copy of the American College Fair 2010 announcement flyer, please distribute to your peers and colleagues.

On February 7, 2009, O TV broadcast a reality show on the lives of five Egyptian students studying in the U.S. on Fulbright, Community College Initiative and NESA scholarships. Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program
Do you dream of studying in one of the prestigious universities in the United States but do not have the funding? Your dream can be a reality with the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program for the academic year 2010-11. The Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program (ORASCOM Construction Industries [OCI] through the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development) will provide full tuition scholarships for Egyptian students seeking to pursue their masters degrees at top U.S. universities in fields that contribute to the economic prosperity of Egypt. Successful candidates may pursue their studies only in the following fields: Business Administration and Construction Management.
Through the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program, ORASCOM Construction Industries (OCI) Foundation will provide full tuition scholarships for Egyptian students seeking to pursue their masters degrees at top U.S. universities in fields that contribute to the economic prosperity of Egypt. Successful candidates may pursue their studies only in the following fields: Business Administration and Construction Management.
The Onsi Sawiris scholarships will be awarded based on character and merit as demonstrated through academic excellence, extracurricular activities and entrepreneurial initiative. In addition to full tuition, the scholarship award will cover living, travel and health insurance expenses.
If you are interested in applying to the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program for the academic year 2009-10, please refer to the requirements in the Frequently Asked Questions to determine whether you are eligible. If you meet the eligibility criteria, please download an application form and submit the application and documents required to the AMIDEAST office in Cairo at the following address: 23 Mossadak Street, Dokki, Giza. You can also apply and submit the application on-line. The application deadline is June 14, 2009.
