Celebrate International Education Week with AMIDEAST/Alexandria!
IEW provides an opportunity to celebrare the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. It is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. All interested individuals and institutions are welcome to our free events—
- Interactive videoconference with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, School of Architecture, Monday, November 16, 6 p.m.
- Visits from area schools, November 17, 10-1 p.m.
- Workshop on Internet use and U.S. study, Wednesday, November 18, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Daily exhibits and video showings on student life in the United StatesPresentation on transferring as an undergraduate to a U.S. institution, Thursday, November 19, 3-4 p.m.

Study USA is Now on Facebook
The American Embassy, in partnership with AMIDEAST
Advisors, has created a Facebook group called
Study USA. Advisors will be available to answer
questions posted to the group. Anyone can post
questions or concerns to the group page and
advisors will respond to them. Study USA events
will also be posted to the group page.

Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program
Do you dream of studying in one of the prestigious
universities in the United States but do not
have the funding? Your dream can be a reality
with the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program for
the academic year 2010-11. The Onsi Sawiris
Scholarship Program (ORASCOM Construction Industries
[OCI] through the Sawiris Foundation for Social
Development) will provide full tuition scholarships
for Egyptian students seeking to pursue their
masters degrees at top U.S. universities in
fields that contribute to the economic prosperity
of Egypt. Successful candidates may pursue their
studies only in the following fields: Business
Administration and Construction
Management.
Through the Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program,
ORASCOM Construction Industries (OCI) Foundation
will provide full tuition scholarships for
Egyptian students seeking to pursue their
masters degrees at top U.S. universities
in fields that contribute to the economic
prosperity of Egypt. Successful candidates
may pursue their studies only in the following
fields: Business Administration
and Construction Management.
The Onsi Sawiris scholarships will be awarded
based on character and merit as demonstrated
through academic excellence, extracurricular
activities and entrepreneurial initiative.
In addition to full tuition, the scholarship
award will cover living, travel and health
insurance expenses.
If you are interested in applying to the Onsi
Sawiris Scholarship Program for the academic
year 2009-10, please refer to the requirements
in the Frequently
Asked Questions to determine whether you
are eligible. If you meet the eligibility criteria,
please download an application form and submit the application
and documents required to the AMIDEAST office
in Cairo at the following address: 23 Mossadak
Street, Dokki, Giza. You can also apply and
submit the application on-line.
The application deadline is June 14, 2009.
