Competitive College Club

The Competitive College Club (CCC) is an EducationUSA initiative that started in the Middle East and has spread around the world!  The CCC aims to assist students in developing key critical thinking skills, prepare for SAT and TOEFL, engage with the community, research university options, fill applications and apply for scholarships!

*Please note that the club is not a scholarship for studies.  Qualified students are encouraged to apply for scholarships through the universities and will be advised on how to do so*

About the Competitive College Club

Who can join?  The club is open to students of any nationality in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th (by first semester only) grades, who wish to go to university in the United States.

What happens in the club?  The club has different activities which include educational advising, test preparation, a book club and community service activities.

How often does the club meet?  The club will have two general meetings per month.  In addition, students will have to complete a certain number of hours of community service per month.  Students may wish to meet more frequently as they prepare for the SAT and TOEFL as well.

How much does it cost to be a member?  The club is free.  If students wish to purchase additional study material or books, that cost is on the individual student.

Where will the club meet?  Club meetings will be at AMIDEAST offices in Al-Qur'm.

Is transporation provided?  As the club is free, we do not provide transportation.  Students must find their own transportation to AMIDEAST for club meetings.  In addition, students will have to coordinate their own transportation for community service activities.  Students are encouraged to coordinate transportation with each other.

What's the benefit of the club?   Applying to U.S. universities can be a challenging process and gaining admissions to top universities is extremely competitive.  The club aims to make this process clearer to students, while at the same time, offering opportunities for students to develop their skills and engage in extracurricular activities outside of the classroom.  U.S. universities seek students who are not only the top of their classes academically, but also actively engage within their communities, whether through sports, the arts or community service.  U.S. universities look for students who can manage their time, and a student who can manage school, after-school activities and their family life are ideal applicants.
