Fulbright Foreign Student Program

Fulbright Foreign Student Program was established by the US Congress in 1946. It was founded to foster mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchange. AMIDEAST administers the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the Middle East and North Africa on behalf of the US Department of States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This highly prestigious scholarship program is a two-year fellowship, designed to give graduates of four-year Bachelors degree or Masters degree programs the opportunity to pursue a graduate degree at a US university.

Applicant Requirements

A competitive applicant will have an excellent academic record, strong English language skills, an outstanding character, and the commitment to return to Oman upon completion of the program.
 

Also an applicant:

  • Must be an Omani citizen residing in Oman
  • Cannot be a U.S. passport holder or legal permanent resident (Green Card holder)
  • Must have at least two years of work experience
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education
  • Must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
  • Will pursue a field of study benefitting Omani society
  • Cannot apply for programs in clinical nursing, medicine, dentistry, law or veterinary medicine

Important Dates

  • February 1st - Applications Open
  • February 7th - May 12th - Applicant Information Sessions at AMIDEAST, every Tuesday at 4:00pm until application deadline
  • May 12th - Applications Closed
  • June 2nd - June 7th - Interviews for short-listed candidates only
  • July 1st - Fulbright Nominations submitted to Washington DC
  • September 1st - Applicants notified of status (nominee or not selected)
