Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES)

AMIDEAST is conducting selection for the U.S. Department of State’s Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES), a scholarship program for high-school age students. The pre-application form deadline is November 4, 2009. Please obtain a pre-application from one of our offices in Sanaa or Aden, or download one below.
YES students have the opportunity to:
- Live with an American family
- Study at a U.S. high school
- Experience U.S. culture and society first hand
- Participate in a youth leadership training program
- Improve their English
- Make new friends
- Help Americans learn more about Yemen and Yemeni culture!
The prestigious YES scholarships cover all major expenses, including airfare, room and board, health insurance, pocket money, and educational supplies.
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of their applications and interviews with an interview panel.
How to apply:
- Read the YES flier and program eligibility requirements (see link below).
- Download and complete the preliminary YES application (see link below or pick one up at our office in Sanaa or Aden).
- Return the pre-application and all required documents in person to AMIDEAST Sanaa or Aden by November 4, 2009.
AMIDEAST is helping to administer the YES program as part of a consortium that is headed by AYUSA International (www.ayusa.org) and also includes ASSE International (www.asse.com), iEARN (www.iearn.org), CIEE (www.ciee.org), Pacific Intercultural Exchange (www.pieusa.org) and Youth For Understanding (www.yfu.org).
