Special Opportunity for U.S. Education Recruiters at Oman Event

The EducationUSA Advising Center at AMIDEAST/Oman is pleased to inform U.S. colleges and universities of an excellent recruiting opportunity in Muscat later this year.  The Gulf Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX) will take place from April 20-22, 2010, at Oman’s International Trade and Exhibition Center.  GHEDEX attracted over 10,500 visitors, mostly Omani, in 2009.  AMIDEAST has exhibited at the event for the last three years, and plans to do so again this year, but we are particularly eager to have U.S. institutions represented at the exhibition as well.  Countries such as the U.K., Australia, Germany and New Zealand are gaining ground as young people in the region weigh their university options abroad, and we believe that a strong American presence at the exhibition would be an excellent way to encourage students to consider the U.S as their destination to complete their higher education.

In an effort to attract U.S. colleges and universities, we have obtained agreement from the GHEDEX organizers to enable up to three U.S. institutions to share a booth, which would result in significant cost savings.  EducationUSA at AMIDEAST/Oman would be happy to facilitate your institution’s participation in the exhibition.

GHEDEX is described in more detail in the event brochure. You can also view a registration form; floor plan details; and current hotel rates. The event website is www.ghedexoman.com, and a post-event report can be downloaded from the following link:  http://www.oite.com/ghedex/2010/en/downloads/ghedex-2009-report.pdf

The AMIDEAST/Oman EducationUSA Advising Center promotes higher education opportunities in the United States.  Through a combination of media coverage, mailings, outreach sessions, and word-of-mouth, we have raised awareness of our educational advising resources throughout the country.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to Oman in April.  Please feel free to contact the AMIDEAST/Oman educational adviser Salim al Badi at salbadi@amideast.org or +968-9590-5325 if you have any questions or need further information.
