Professional Business Writing and Communication Course Description

The course takes you through clear, manageable steps designed to develop a professional business writing style.  This course, which is filled with hands-on exercises, group work, tests, and expert insights into writing, introduces you to the tools and techniques that are needed to:

  • Grab readers’ attention by choosing stronger nouns and verbs
  • Quickly collect and organize the information
  • Eliminate nonspecific words and phrases from writing
  • Use ‘turn signals’ to guide the reader from sentence to sentence
  • Manage online and cross-cultural writing

Project Management Professional (PMP)

This intensive and hands-on course gives you the skills to ensure your projects are completed on time and on budget while giving the user the product they expect. Professionals will gain a strong working knowledge of the project management and be able to immediately apply it to effectively manage work projects through the use of exercises, templates, and industry-specific case studies provided in the class.
The course covers the nine knowledge areas defined in the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management Framework. This includes understanding:

  • Project Communications Management
  • Project Risk Management
  • Project Procurement Management
  • Project Integration Management
  • Project Scope Management
  • Project Time Management
  • Project Cost Management
  • Project Quality Management

Built into the course are the processes necessary to setting up and managing a project from beginning to end. This includes setting up goals and objectives, project initiation, planning, controlling, execution, and closing. Heavy use is made of exercises and examples within the industry segment to make the program material as relevant as possible to the attendees.

Test Preparation Courses

Placement test is required to take any test preparation course:

  • Time: Every Wednesday at 2:30 pm
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Fees: 10 JODs
  • Registration: Must be 1-2 days in advance
  • Students must pass the placement test in order to register for classes.  Those with special needs will be considered on a case by case basis.

Requirements: Photo Identification

  • Maximum number of students per class is 16

TOEFL

This AMIDEAST's TOEFL® Preparation course is designed to help students develop the necessary skills required for the TOEFL® test: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. The course is intensive in nature and requires a lot of work on the students' part. Students not only develop their language skills, but also have to focus on developing strategies and critical thinking skills that will help them study in North American universities.

GRE

This course will assist you to do your best on the new computer version of the General Test of the GRE and will improve your chances of gaining admission to graduate school. This course is designed to build confidence and sharpen test-taking skills. By examining each area of the GRE in depth, you will know what to expect and be able to expect and be able to set goals for improving your performance level.
Although no preparation course can guarantee a high score, this course will give you the opportunity to improve in the three GRE areas and will enable you to perform at your best.

GMAT

This course is designed to help you do your best on the GMAT Exam, and improve your chances of gaining admission to graduate schools of business. Students will also have access to computers with GMAT software, enabling them to become familiar with the computer-based exam. In addition, techniques for reducing test anxiety are discussed.
