Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program

AMIDEAST has been an important provider of educational services to the people of Alexandria since 1982. We have helped thousands of students apply to U.S. universities, learn English and take the exams required for admission to American educational institutions. We provide professionals with the development training they need to succeed in today’s increasingly global workplace. Each year, over 10,000 individuals turn to AMIDEAST Alexandria for education and training services.

We offer free group advising sessions on the ins-and-outs of applying to American universities and studying in the U.S. We also maintain a comprehensive and updated library on US educational opportunities, complete with directories and catalogues from colleges and universities.

AMIDEAST administers most of the major exams required for admission to universities in the U.S. as well as some exams required for professional certifications. These include the SAT®, GRE®, GRE® Subject exams, Institutional TOEFL®, and TOEIC®.

We provide five-week English language classes for individuals of varying ability levels, including classes in international communication and English for Business. For each session, an average of 400 people sign up for classes. We also offer computer classes covering everything from Microsoft Word to the Internet.

Our professional training and development courses are designed for middle-management professionals. The short-term classes cover a range of topics including global communication, Internet usage for business and customer care.

For young people, age five to 17, AMIDEAST offers a popular summer language and cultural program designed to teach children English using games, role-playing and other fun activities. During the school year, this program is offered on Saturday mornings.

Adults are invited to utilize the American Center Alexandria, a branch of the U.S. embassy in Cairo. The ACA hosts lectures, films and other cultural activities.

Computer Training (New!)

AMIDEAST is pleased to offer a brand new series of computer courses in 2002. Each course is for twenty hours and is taught by a computer professional in a state-of-the-art computer lab at one of AMIDEAST's two sites. The instruction and the books are in English. Once a student has completed a course successfully, he or she will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
