Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES)

Amideast is in the process
of selecting qualified applicants for the Partnership for
Learning?s Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES), a scholarship
program for high-school age students.
As a YES student, you will have the opportunity
to:
- Live with an American family
- Study at a U.S. high school
- Participate in a youth leadership training program
- Experience U.S. culture and society first hand
- Improve your English
- Make new friends
- Help Americans learn about your country
YES scholarships cover all major expenses, including airfare,
room and board, health insurance, pocket money, and educational
supplies.
Applicants to the YES program must meet the following criteria:
- Have a record of high academic achievement
- Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to promoting cross cultural understanding
- Are born between August 1, 1992 and August 1, 1994
- Will be entering grade 11 in fall 2009 if student is currently in a public secondary school
- Will be entering grade 10 or 11 in fall 2009 if student is currently in a private secondary school
- Meet minimum English proficiency requirement
- Are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and were not born in the United States
Interested applicants must complete the attached preliminary application form for the 2009-2010 YES cycle and submit it along with the school transcript for year 2007-2008 and a passport bio-page by the DEADLINE OF NOVEMBER 20, 2008.
Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of their applications and interviews with a review panel.
Current applicants should note that individual and group interviews will be conducted by the review panel in Bahrain from January 24 – 26, 2009 of this academic year. Please phone the office for further information.
