Kuwait (February 16, 2011) — In order to accommodate growing demand for its educational and training services in Kuwait, AMIDEAST has moved its office from Salmiya to a new facility located in the central business district of Sharq. 

The move to new and larger office facilities will enable the American educational organization to expand its core activities including corporate and individual training, scholarship and exchange program administration, and testing.

The AMIDEAST Kuwait office is now located in Ahmed Al Jaber Street, the Commercial Bank Building, 2nd floor, opposite Dar Al Awadi tower, Sharq.

An official opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting will be held during the month of April 2011. Senior government officials and representatives from education and business are expected to attend.

Since opening its doors in Kuwait in 1992, AMIDEAST has provided training to more than 20,000 individuals, including free English language training to over 900 Kuwaiti high school students over the past six years through the English Access Microscholarship Program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State. The Kuwait office also administers the U.S. Department of State-funded Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study scholarship program, whose alumni currently total 85 students from Kuwait. Additionally, the Kuwait office has provided testing services to thousands of individuals in Kuwait, and with the move to new premises, has re-opened its state-of-the art Prometric testing center.

“This move allows us to serve a more diverse mix of individuals and institutions seeking our services,” said AMIDEAST Country Director for Kuwait, Maureen Aldakheel. “Our new and larger office facilities will permit us to further expand and grow our corporate and individual training programs, accommodate a larger number of students applying for AMIDEAST scholarship and exchange programs, and ensure secure and adequate testing facilities.”
