Celebrating 60 Years of Engagement —

The title of our annual report for 2011— covers a year of fruitful engagement to meet new challenges in the Middle East and North Africa. As AMIDEAST marked its sixtieth anniversary in 2011, it was also a time to reflect on AMIDEAST’s legacy of serving this important region since 1951 through education, training, exchange, and institutional development in order to expand opportunity, better young people’s lives, and advance mutual understanding.

Investing in People 

— the title of our annual report for 2010— illustrates the tangible difference that our many and diverse programs and services are making every day in the lives of the individuals in the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to expanding activities in our core areas of operation, 2010 was a year for building new and exciting partnerships in areas such as entrepreneurship training, teacher development and U.S. public diplomacy.

Creating Paths for Success

— the title of our annual report for 2009— reflects the priority that AMIDEAST places on meeting critical needs through education and training. New programs to serve women and youth, expand training in entrepreneurship and global communication skills, and increase study abroad opportunities for young Americans seeking to improve their understanding of the important Middle East and North Africa region were just some of the highlights of a year of growth and innovation.
