Chris Shinn, Ph.D., Chief of Party
Chris Shinn joined the MSN program as Chief of Party in 2009.   Over the last six years he has served as AMIDEAST Country Director in West Bank/Gaza, as well as Chief of Party for AMIDEAST’s Palestinian Faculty Development Program.  He has fifteen years of experience in the education sector, including basic education reform and higher education development. 
Chris has been a middle school English teacher, a trainer for a teacher certification program, and a lecturer for the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney, Australia.  As an education developer he has worked in the field of international student exchange, scholarship administration, English language education, and faculty development in the United States, the Middle East and North Africa and parts of Asia.
Chris received his B.A. in international development from the University of Washington.  His master’s degree in comparative education and Ph.D. in education policy are both from the University of Sydney, Australia.

Said Assaf, Ph.D., Deputy Chief of Party
Said graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.  He started his professional life, as a secondary school mathematics teacher at the Al Hashmieh Secondary School.  His involvement in higher education and teacher training began when he became an instructor at the Women’s Teachers College in Ramallah and later as an Assistant Professor and Chairman of the Mathematics Department at Birzeit University.  
Said participated in the creation of the first Palestinian Ministry of Education in 1994 and was the first Director General for Professional Development and Supervision.  He was Assistant Deputy Minister for Academic and Development Affairs for three years.
During his career, Said has taught graduate courses at Birzeit University, Al-Najah University and Al Quds University. He has co-authored math textbooks for school children, as well as worked with Education Development Center, Inc., an American NGO based in Washington, DC.  His previous position was Director of the Education Quality Component of the USAID-funded Education Reform Project in Egypt.

Professional Development Department


Naila Handosh, Professional Development Specialist 
Naila joined the MSN Program in December 2007.   Prior to joining the MSN team, Naila served as the Programs Manager at Tamer Institute for Community Education, and as TOKTEN consultant with UNDP. As the Professional Development Specialist, she is responsible for managing the professional development and training activities, including the School Improvement Planning and the training for school teachers and principals within the MSN program. 
Naila holds two degrees in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration from California State University, Stanislaus.  She received her MBA from Cyprus International Institute of Management in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Rana Asbah, Professional Development Program Coordinator
Rana joined the MSN Program in March 2008. As the Professional Development Assistant and was promoted to Program Coordinator. Rana is responsible for all logistics and tracking for teachers involved in training programs.  Prior to joining the MSN team, Rana worked as a Program Assistant on the Academy for Educational Development’s USAID-funded Presidential Scholarship Project.  Rana holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Birzeit University.

 Salma Nazzal, Professional Development Assistant
Salma joined the MSN Program in January 2010. As Professional Development Assistant, Salma is responsible for all logistics and tracking of teachers involved in training programs. Prior to holding this position, she served as the Administrative Program Assistant within the MSN program. Salma has also worked for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society as an administrative assistant in the Emergency Medical Services Department.  Salma holds a BA in English Literature with a minor in translation from Birzeit University.

Tareq Shrouf, Professional Development Assistant

Tareq joined the MSN program in December 2010 as a professional development assistant. His responsibilities include assisting in managing logistics and documentation related to the professional development component of the MSN program.

Prior to joining the MSN team, Tareq worked at Merlin echo (European Commission) as logistics assistant in the West Bank. Tareq holds a BA in Accounting from the Arab American Univesity in Jenin.

Khalid Al Jawarish, Senior Training Advisor for Math & Science
Khalid al Jawarish joined the MSN program in December 2009 as the senior training Advisor for Math and Science.  He will be responsible for coordinating the professional development component related to math and science for the MSN program.
Khalid is an experienced educator with a strong professional background in supervision.   Prior to joining the MSN team, he was the Head of Supervision for the Directorate of Bethlehem.  He has worked as the Deputy Director of Education and Technical Education for the Directorate of Bethlehem, as well as the Head of Supervision for the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Ramallah.  He has been the Director of School for two Bethlehem institutions:  Aldhuib Mohamed Salem High School and ‘Ebayat Basic Hybrid School.  His first education job was teaching math and science at Al Azrieh Secondary School in Bethlehem.  He worked in this position for fourteen years.
Khalid received a Diploma in Mathematics from Khadouri Institute in Tulkarm, a Bachelor of Education from Bethlehem University, and a master’s degree from Al Quds University.  He received his PhD in educational administration from Nile Valley University in Sudan.

Community Outreach Department


Salpi S. Giacaman, Community Outreach Specialist
Salpi joined the MSN Program in November 2007 as the Community Outreach Specialist.  She is responsible for implementing the Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) component of the MSN project, as well as organizing MSN-sponsored extra-curricular activities in participating schools.  Salpi previously served as a Field Coordinator for the American Scholarship Fund Program (ASFP), a USAID-funded project administered by AMIDEAST.
Salpi holds a BA in Sociology and Social Work from Bethlehem University.   She has completed field work and training in the United States and Sweden.

Anan Morrar, Senior Program Coordinator
Anan joined the MSN Program in January 2008 as the Program Coordinator for the Community Outreach Department and was promoted to Senior Program Coordinator. He is responsible for implementing ex a-curricular youth programs and enhancing networking among MSN schools.  
Anan received his bachelor’s degree in Finance from Birzeit University.  Prior to joining the MSN team, Anan served as a program assistant and field researcher for the American Scholarships Fund Program (ASFP), a USAID-funded project administered by AMIDEAST.

Anas Abu oun, Community Outreach Assistant

Anas joined MSN in October in 2011. As Community Outreach Assistant Anas is responsible of assisting and supporting the community outreach activities and events and provide logistical support to the youth enrichment program. Anas recently graduated from Birzeit University and hes majored in Journalism and Political Science.

Monitoring & Evaluation Department


Sarah Capper, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist 
As the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Sarah is responsible for assessing the impact of the MSN Program.  She deals with student testing and assessment, evaluation of the program’s key components, and reporting requirements.  In addition to working on the MSN Program, Sarah is also a teacher for AMIDEAST in the US State Department English Access Microscholarship Program.   Prior to joining the MSN team, Sarah worked for AMIDEAST on the USAID-funded American Scholarship Fund Program (ASFP). 
Sarah holds a BA in Law & Society from American University in Washington, DC, an MA in Arab Studies from Georgetown University, as well as a CELTA certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

Mohammad Khalil, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer 
Mohammad joined the MSN Program in June 2011. As the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mohammad works with the M&E staff to organize, analyze and interpret program data, draft reports, and support MSN assessment activities including correspondence with partners, arranging local travel and logistics.
Mohammad holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathmatics Applied to Economics from Birzeit University. before joining MSN Mohammad worked as a Program Officer with QADER for Community Development.

Razan Joined the MSN Program in January 2011. Safaa Halahla, Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

                                           Suhaib Jarrar, Communications Officer

Suhaib joined the MSN Program in March 2011. As the Communications Officer, he is responsible for all public and media relations. He ensures AMIDEAST and USAID are appropriately represented locally and internationally.   
Suhaib holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and a minor in Translation from Birzeit University.  Before his work with MSN program, Suhaib served as the AMIDEAST Hebron Office Manager. He also worked for Relief International as the Administrative and Communication Officer.

Operations & Compliance Department

Mazen Al Mallah, Operations & Compliance Manager

Mazen joined the MSN program in December 2010 as the Operations and Compliance Manager. He is responsible for designing, implementing and supervising adherence to financial policy, budgets and internal control measures. He is also responsible for providing strategic support to the MSN team in contracts and procurement. He oversees all compliance issues for the program related to USAID regulations. Mazen also provides overall financial management and produces financial reports for MSN.

Mazen received his BA in Business Administration and Accounting from Birzeit University. Prior to joining the MSN team, Mazen served as a Senior Auditor at PriceWaterHouseCoopers in the West Bank.

Rasha Tazmi, Procurement & Logistics Officer 
Rasha joined the MSN Program in August 2009 as Procurement and Logistics Officer.  She is in charge of issues related to MSN procurement.  
Rasha holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Birzeit University.  Prior to joining the MSN team, Rasha worked as a project manager and designer at Amara Architects.   Rasha has also worked as a researcher with Mashhad and as an administrative assistant at Idea Design.

Mohannad Othman, Procurement & Logistics Officer
Mohannad joined MSN Program in April 2010. As procurement and logistics Officer, he is in charge of the relevant procurements MSN is undertaking during the program timeframe. Mohannad holds a high Diploma Degree in Hotel Management from Ammon University /Jordan. Prior to joining the MSN team, he worked as procurement and logistics officer in Gulf countries for 6 years; he then joined Relief International in Palestine as procurement officer for Gaza emergency project.

Kifah Zuhour, Procurement and Compliance Officer
Kifah joined the MSN Program in January 2010.  As the Procurement and Compliance Officer she supports MSN team in Procurement and Compliance related tasks.   
Prior to holding this position Kifah served as the Procurement Assistant and before joining MSN, Kifah served as a Senior Human Resources Officer at Palestine Cellular Company.  She has also worked as an Outreach Officer at the NGO Development Center.Kifah holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Birzeit University.

Jamal Bajali, Finance & Procurement Assistant

Jamal joined the MSN Program in January 2011. As the Finance and Procurement Assistant, he is responsible for helping financial & procurement services for the MSN program. This includes day-to-day accounting and financial process, operations support, and providing support to the finance department and procurement team.                                           Bisan Saidi, Administrative and HR Assistance

Bisan is the MSN Administrative and HR Assistant, she joined MSN in September 2011.Bisan is responsible for management of administrative services of the MSN program, such as the day-to-day management of the office, operations support, logistics, and providing support to the Finance & Admin Manager. Prior to joining MSN, Bisan worked at Ruwwad Youth Empowerment Project as the HR Coordinator. Maha Shafie, Administrative Assistant
Maha joined the MSN Program in October 2010.  As the Administrative Assistant, she provides support for the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party, as well as other project departments.  Prior to joining the MSN team, Maha worked for the Management Organization Business Improvement Services (MOBIS) as an administrative assistant.

Ashraf Rimawi, Messenger  
Ashraf joined the MSN team in 2007. As the MSN messenger, Ashraf welcomes all guests to the MSN office and manages the needs of the MSN training facility.   
Prior to joining MSN, he worked for the Ramallah Municipality, the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, and the Palestinian Telecommunications Company.

Imad Mansour, Community Outreach & Professional Development Training Coordinator-Nablus
Imad joined the MSN program in October 2010 as the Community Outreach and Professional Development Coordinator. He coordinates MSN professional development effort in the Nablus and Jenin areas.  Imad is also responsible for coordinating the implementation of extracurricular activities at participating MSN schools in the Nablus and Jenin areas.
Imad holds a BA degree in Management Information Systems from the Arab American University in Jenin. Prior to joining MSN Program, Imad worked as Office Coordinator at Middle East Aid (MEA), and was the Volunteer Program Coordinator at the Tomorrows Youth Organization.

Mohammad joined MSN as the Community Outreach and Professional Development Coordinator in February 2011. He coordinates MSN Proffessional Development trainings in Nablus and Jenin as well as coordinating the Community Outreach activities. Ayman Esead, Community Outreach and Professional Development Training Coordinator-Hebron
Ayman joined the MSN program in December 2009 as a Community Outreach and Professional Development training Coordinator. He coordinates MSN professional development trainings in the Hebron and Bethlehem areas.  Ayman is also responsible for coordinating the implementation of extracurricular activities at participating MSN schools in the Hebron and Bethlehem areas.
Ayman holds a B.Sc. degree from Al Quds University.  Prior to his appointment with MSN, he was the training Coordinator at Palestine Polytechnic University, as well as a Project Coordinator in Hebron for the Italian organization Terre Des Hommes.  He has also worked as a Field Coordinator for Save the Children USA.

Linda Abu Elhalaweh, Community Outreach and Professional Development Training Coordinator-Hebron
Linda joined the MSN program in December 2009 as a Community Outreach and Professional Development training Coordinator. She is in charge of coordinating two aspects of the MSN program in the Bethlehem and Hebron areas: MSN program professional development trainings and the implementation of extracurricular activities at participating MSN schools.
Linda holds a B.Sc. degree in mathematics and information technology from Bethlehem University.  She holds two masters degrees:  one in International Relations and humanitarian affairs from Laspienza Univeristy (Italy) and the other in sustainable development/institution building from Al Quds University.  Prior to her appointment with MSN, she was the office manager for the Hebron CHF office. She has also worked as an Outreach Coordinator with UNRWA.

Gaza Program Staff


Rana Sager, Program Manager
Rana joined the MSN Program in November 2009 as a Program Manager.  She is responsible for the management and implementation of MSN program activities in Gaza.  She also provides budget oversight on MSN activities in Gaza.
Prior to working with the MSN team in Gaza, Rana held various positions in humanitarian organizations such as World Vision, Islamic Relief, and Ard El Insan.  She also worked for InfraMan GmbH, an Austrian municipal infrastructure company.
Rana holds a BA in international relations and diplomacy from the American University in Baku (Azerbaijan).  She holds a second bachelor’s degree in international business administration from Rochiville University.

Khader Abu Hasan, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
Khader joined the MSN Program in December 2009 as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist.  He is responsible for the development and management of the databases required to capture necessary information about the program.
Khader started his professional career as a staff nurse in Al Shifa Hospital.  He has since worked with a several NGOs in Gaza.  His was a Program Officer on the USAID-funded HANAN project and most recently held the position of Nation Project Coordinator for Palestine Medical Relief Society.
Khader received his BSc. in nursing from the Islamic University in Gaza.  He received his master’s degree in public health management from Al Quds University.

Emad El Masri, Program Coordinator
Emad joined the MSN Program in December 2009 as a Program Coordinator.  He is responsible for reporting and coordinating activities with schools, teachers, and subcontractors for the MSN program in Gaza.
Emad started his professional career as a network maintenance engineer and IT consultant for the USAID-funded Tamkeen project.  He later held the position of Operational Officer at Injaz, a local Gazan NGO working in the field of education.
Emad holds a BSc. in electronic engineering for Al Yarmouk University in Jordan.  He is currently pursuing an MBA from Islamic University in Gaza.

Sabreen Al-Shaer, Field Researcher
Sabreen joined the MSN program in October 2010 as a Field Researcher. She conducts school visits, analysis and documents data needed for the selection of scholarship recipients in Gaza.  Sabreen holds a BA in Industrial Engineering from the Islamic University in Gaza.  Prior to joining the MSN team, she worked for PARC and the Palestinian Hydrology Group.

Tohfa Abu Hajar, Field Researcher
