Diana Kamal Scholarship Search Fund – 2012
(For U.S. University Study Beginning in Fall 2013)


This program was established in memory of Senior Vice President Diana Kamal who passed away after 28 years of distinguished service at AMIDEAST. In recognition of her dedication to international educational exchange, this fund will identify talented young Arab students and match them with scholarship opportunities at U.S. colleges and universities. Scholarships are very competitive and will be identified in November 2013 depending on the availability of funds.
 

WHO CAN APPLY FOR THE DKSSF PROGRAM?

  • Moroccan citizens currently residing in Morocco.
  • (Applicants must not be U.S. citizens or holders of American “green cards”)
  • Students currently enrolled in the “1st year baccalaureate” class in secondary school or grade 11 (in the U.S.  high school system)
  • Students with a minimum final average of 3.5/4 or 17/20 for the last three years at school, or among the top 10% in class.
  • Students with a minimum SAT I test score of 1450 on the critical reading and math sections.
  • (Note: Applications with the June 2012 SAT scores (or earlier) are preferred. However, applications will be accepted if they meet all other criteria for those who cannot take the SAT test until October 2012, if those students submit October test score 15 days after testing.)
  • Students with a strong commitment to pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the United States
  • Students who are mature, flexible, and can adapt to studying and living in the USA for 4 years.
  • Students active in sports, community projects, and/or the arts are preferred.
  • Students who cannot afford to study in the U.S. without a scholarship.
  • Students with a minimum iBT TOEFL score of 80.

HOW DO I APPLY?

1. Complete an application for the DKSSF program.
2. Official school transcripts for 9th (brevet), 10th (seconde) and 11th (premiere) grades.
3. Copies of your SAT I scores (SAT II scores are strongly encouraged to be submitted).
4. Copies of the iBT TOEFL score
5. Three letters of recommendations: school principal, an English teacher, and another subject teacher.
6. Three essays (check application for essay questions).
7. Certificates of awards, honors, achievements, community service, work experience, etc.
8. Copies of published work (poetry, writings, music, drawings), if any.
9. Any necessary financial documents to support the financial aid section of the DKSSF application.
 

Final selection will be made on the basis of the written application and interviews of selected students. The criteria for selection will be based both on merit (academic excellence and personal achievement) and financial need.
