What is the SAT?

The SAT is designed to measure a secondary school student's reasoning skills. It is a requirement for applicants to some, but not all, U.S. and international universities. The SAT  is made up of multiple-choice questions that measure mathematical and verbal reasoning abilities.
 
Where and when can I take the SAT?
 
AMIDEAST/Iraq holds the SAT exam on a selected dates per year. The test is administered in paper-based format in Erbil and Baghdad.

How do I register?
 
ONLINE REGISTRATION: To register online, please visit www.collegeboard.com . You should have an internationally valid credit card number with a sum of US$78 and a valid mailing address as well.
LOCAL REGISTRATION VIA AMIDEAST/IRAQ:
 
To register locally with AMIDEAST in Iraq, please visit:
 
·         The AMIDEAST office in Erbil. Registration is every day of the work week (Sunday-Thursday) from 8am to 4pm. The office is located in Ainkawa Neighborhood close to Ashtar TV, near Mar-Youhannah church, mobiles +9647507373200,  +964 750 445 9383 or +964 770 645 2275.
·         The AMIDEAST office in Baghdad. To register for a test, please contact massim@amideast.org or call +964 750 620 0215 or +964 0780 620 9267 The AMIDEAST office in Basra.
·         AMIDEAST representative in Basra is at the University of Basra, Bab Al-Zubair Compound, in Institute of Live Languages every Monday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For any questions, please contact iraq@amideast.org  
 
Students will need to review and sign the local registration student agreement, complete a paper registration form, and pay the $78 fee in cash ($50 for the SAT test fees and $28 for international processing fees). No local registration fee service is charged.
 In order to facilitate communication, we require all students using the local registration service to obtain an e-mail address. AMIDEAST/Iraq staff rely primarily on e-mail for communication with students about testing issues.
 
How do I prepare for the SAT I?
 
It is important for you to be familiar with the kinds of questions asked on the SAT I. There are several ways to prepare. Visit the SAT Web site for sample questions and tips. Do the questions and sample test in the free Taking the SAT I bulletin

What do I do on the day of the test?
·         Arrive at the test site 30 minutes before the assigned test time. Check-in procedures take time. If you arrive late, you may not be admitted to the test, and you will forfeit your test fees.
·         Bring photo bearing identification, as described in the SAT registration bulletin
·         Bring your test confirmation information
What about my scores?
 
My SAT Online Score Report is the best and fastest way to get your scores. It's available for free to every student who takes the SAT. Test-takers can visit www.collegeboard.com to create an account using their name as they listed on their SAT registration form, test center/date information, and a registration number. Once you have created this account, you should be able to view your score reports and other relevant information by the designated dates for each test administration.
 
Questions about any missing score reports (scores not received after 8 weeks or longer) should be directed to the Educational Testing Service, which issues the SAT score reports. An e-mail sent to the SAT customer service address sat@ets.org usually will receive a response in five to seven days. Score report problems are best avoided by careful preparation of the registration form: writing name and mailing address clearly and following payment procedures.
