For women who dare to dream
In 2008, the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. announced 10,000 Women, a global initiative that will provide 10,000 underserved women with a business and management education. The American University in Cairo is one of the partnering universities in the initiative, working with The Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania to create the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Program (WEL), a business and management certificate program specifically for women in Egypt and the region. Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is the official sponsor for the leadership program. AMIDEAST is administrating the program in the Middle East.
Recipients of the scholarship should show the following:
The WEL program course is open to residents of Egypt, the West Bank and Jordan, including but not limited to Palestinian or Iraqi residents of Jordan and elsewhere.
The fully-funded course, including travel expenses, is at AUC and instruction is in Arabic. Any participants who do not live in Cairo will be provided housing.
