The first Cisco Entrepreneur Institute (CEI) workshop on "Starting a Business" kicked off at AMIDEAST/Oman on Sunday January 16th. The 15 session workshop will run until March 6th, with two weekly evening sessions, every Sunday and Wednesday.

Guest speakers have started to actively take part in our sessions, sharing their experience and taking part in lively discussions with the participants. Guest presentation has proven to serve as a powerful learning tool for the participants.

Upon completing the workshop participants will be able to prepare a business plan, identify the appropriate licenses and permits needed, manage business accounting activities and track cash flow, finance the venture by acquiring startup capital, Set up an E-Commerce site to sell online, plus other essential entrepreneurial skills.
A power session is planned for the 31st January to take place at "Ubar", a local high end restaurant that serves Omani cuisine with a modern twist. The restaurant dedicates a monthly evening to its "Ubar Salon" event, where a local hot topic is discussed over an open dinner with an invitation only guest list and good Media coverage. So, they are starting 2011's series of events inviting us to chair the discussions on "Entrepreneurship: How to Indentify & Prioritize Business Opportunities".
