Competitive College Club

The Competitive College Club (CCC) is an EducationUSA initiative that started in the Middle East and has spread around the world!  The CCC aims to assist students in developing key critical thinking skills, prepare for SAT and TOEFL, engage with the community, research university options, fill applications and apply for scholarships!

*Please note that the club is not a scholarship for studies.  Qualified students are encouraged to apply for scholarships through the universities and will be advised on how to do so*

About the Competitive College Club

Who can join?  The club is open to students of any nationality in the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th (by first semester only) grades, who wish to go to university in the United States.

What happens in the club?  The club has different activities which include educational advising, test preparation, a book club and community service activities.

How often does the club meet?  The club will have two general meetings per month.  In addition, students will have to complete a certain number of hours of community service per month.  Students may wish to meet more frequently as they prepare for the SAT and TOEFL as well.

How much does it cost to be a member?  The club is free.  If students wish to purchase additional study material or books, that cost is on the individual student.

Omani Government offers merit-based scholarships of up to $24,070/year for five years

Special Announcement

Oman's Ministry of Higher Education is currently administering His Majesty's Scholarship Fund, set up by the Sultan to provide 1,500 merit-based undergraduate scholarships for students who graduated from high school in June 2011.  Five hundred of those scholarships have been allocated for the U.S., and will be repeated every year, for a total of 2,500 students in the coming years.   The EducationUSA office based in AMIDEAST/Oman is assisting the Ministry with finding four-year universities and colleges (with housing or campus-supervised homestays) that would be interested in considering applications from scholarship students in the near future.  Universities and colleges that can offer cost-sharing will be given preference by the Ministry as it awards the scholarships.
