English Access Microscholarship Program

Since 2004, AMIDEAST/Lebanon has been managing the English Access Microscholarship Program in Lebanon -- a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State to benefit Lebanese youth at public secondary schools in all regions of Lebanon. To date, 2,648 students aged 14-18 have benefited from this two-year scholarship.

Students participate in 400 hours of English language instruction and additional workshops that introduce the youth to American culture, community service, policy issues, and career enhancement resources.

The English language curriculum strengthens English speaking, writing, listening, and reading skills with additional extracurricular activities. Activities may include guest speakers in the class, field trips in Lebanon for cultural activities (such as films, exhibitions and concerts), and visits to different Lebanese and American organizations in Lebanon.
