Staff Openings: AMIDEAST Representative, Qatar

Job Title: AMIDEAST Representative, Qatar
Variable Part-Time

The incumbent provides leadership for AMIDEAST programs in Qatar setting the direction for program sustainability and growth; functions as AMIDEAST's representative in Qatar fostering positive relationships with key donors, partners, and clients; and oversees the delivery of all AMIDEAST programs and services in Qatar to ensure the consistent provision of quality service.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Directs all AMIDEAST activity in Qatar. Current programs include testing projects and exchange programs.
  • Leads recruitment/selection efforts for exchange programs in Qatar, including YES, LBFP, Tomorrow's Leaders, etc. Works collaboratively with Headquarters staff; provides information for sponsor reports, handles testing, travel logistics for participants and pre-departure orientations. Oversees alumni activities for returnees.
  • Markets and sells AMIDEAST's products and services, in particular, those related to testing and English language learning. Arranges and supervises test administrations.
  • Keeps abreast of major developments and trends in the education and training areas, including conferences and exhibit opportunities, and reports them in a timely fashion to Headquarters.
  • Develops an annual plan and budget. Responsible for the programmatic and financial monitoring of plan and budget targets, and creation of contingency options.
  • Leads all development activities for AMIDEAST in Qatar; maintains donor, client and other partner relationships to position AMIDEAST for new opportunities. In conjunction with Headquarters, develops proposals for submission to potential funders/clients, as required.
  • Administers, coordinates, and monitors AMIDEAST fiscal affairs in Qatar in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures, including preparation of budgets, and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting to AMIDEAST Headquarters.
  • Sets the direction for the sustainability of existing business and develops new strategies and opportunities for continued growth and stays alert to new business opportunities.
  • Represents AMIDEAST at conferences, meetings and workshops.
  • Handles other special duties, projects and responsibilities from time-to-time.
  • Remains current on changes within the industry through publications and continuing education.
  • Projects a qualified appearance and cooperative attitude, maintains high ethical standards of confidentiality in representing AMIDEAST to ensure professional representation at all times.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • BA/BS in relevant field of study
  • 5-10 years of management experience, preferably in the Middle East/North Africa
  • Experience in marketing educational and professional development training products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of the U.S. higher education system
  • Strong financial management skills
  • Strong organizational, supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to balance sensitive political and cultural issues and develop a broad base of working relationships
  • Familiarity with office productivity tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in relevant field.
  • Work experience in Qatar.
  • Arabic language skills.

Physical Requirements: This position does not necessarily require any specific sitting/standing or walking requirements, but it may, from time to time, require the following:

  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds
  • Requires computer responsibilities involving extensive use of keyboard, mouse and monitor
  • Requires travel
  • Required to understand, speak and follow English instructions
  • On occasion, requires hours in excess of 8 per day or 40 per week
