Economist - Wise project

Position summary : will work closely with the Enabling Environment Unit Director and will be responsible for: 

  1. Data collection and analysis on labor and business environment issues.
  2. Preparation of a data base of stakeholders by categories identified in the “Labor Skills, Productivity, and Human Resource Management” study.
  3. Ensure timely, efficient communication/ engagement and document sharing with various stakeholders
  4. Research and analyses.
  5. Assisting with the advocacy plan to inform national policy on labor issues and the business environment
  6. Assisting in the preparation of press releases and their dissemination.
  7. Assisting in the preparation of consultation events.
  8. The preparation of minutes of meetings and outcome documents of consultations.
  9. The daily communication with stakeholders.
  10. Assisting with the project progress reports.
  11. Translate agendas, minutes and outcome documents when needed (English-Arabic)
  12. Coordinate all organizational tasks related to conducting events


Qualifications and skills:

  • BA in economics or related field, Masters preferred.
  • Possesses 3-5 years of experience in related work; government experience highly desirable
  • Ability to work in a team, in close cooperation, and under the supervision of the EEU Director;
  • Understanding of business environment and labor issues;
  • Strong research skills;
  • A strong commitment to delivering timely and high - quality results;
  • Commitment and willingness to work in challenging environments;
  • Good communication, advocacy and people skills; ability to communicate with various stakeholders and to express concisely and clearly ideas and concepts in written and oral form;
  • Social media skills;
  • Superior Arabic and translation skills.
  • Second Language proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs (e.g. MSOffice)
