The Legislative Fellows Program (LFP) is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and administered by Legacy International. This program is designed for people with strong leadership skills who are early- to mid-career professionals. It is for visionary individuals committed to making a lasting impact in the areas of public service and social development.
Eligible candidates must be:

A citizen and resident of Egypt, Libya, or Tunisia.

Between 25 and 35 years of age.

Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in one or more of the following area: policy development, legislation, service and/or volunteer work, civil society organizations, community activism, unions or labor law, government administration, elections, voter education, social innovation and activism.
Deadline: December 30th, 2012.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates who have NOT previously traveled to the U.S. on a government-sponsored exchange program.
The Legislative Fellows Program (LFP) is a multi-part, two-way citizen exchange program designed to promote the role of civil society in the political process. The program sends political affairs professionals from Egypt, Kuwait, Libya, Morocco, Oman and Tunisia to the United States for an extended period of time. U.S. citizen participants with expertise in legislative affairs and public policy formulation act as hosts and mentors during the participants’ training in the U.S. Many of these mentors are former members of Congress, staff members of current Congressional leaders, and members of political and non-governmental organizations.
