AMIDEAST is pleased to announce the English for Religious Purposes Program. The English for Religious Purposes Program is a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It is a two year comprehensive professional development program for graduates and scholars of religious studies located in Alexandria and Tanta.

Program Goal:
The program aims to enhance the English skills of young Muslim religious leaders, clergy and scholars, male and female. The program goals are to enable program participants to engage in interfaith dialogue both locally and on a global level, to increase mutual understanding on religious and cultural levels, and to improve conflict management skills.
 
Grant Benefits:
·         280 hours of English for Religious Purposes language training
·         32 hours of interfaith dialogue and conflict management training
·         Enhancement activities including:  online dialogue sessions, field trips, and guest speakers
Eligibility Requirements:
·         Egyptian citizenship
·         Age not to exceed 35 at the beginning of the program
·         Graduates of Islamic Studies fields
·         High beginner/elementary level of English as determined by placement exam

·         Copies of university transcript(s) from all post-secondary institutions attended

Alexandria Applicants:

September 15, 2010.
