Asfari - Skills for Success: Employability & Entrepreneurship

AMIDEAST is recruiting 40 unemployed young men and women, aged 18 - 30, for a nine-month intensive training program that will enable them to either find a job or start their own business. Participants will benefit from more than 275 hours of training, divided into three phases.

Phase 1 - Personal & Professional Skills

This training focuses on critical personal and professional skills relevant to most career paths:

  • 170 hours of English language, focused on communication for the workplace
  • 40 hours of computer and IT skills
  • 35 hours of workplace readiness skills, such as customer service and decision-making

Phase 2 - Employability & Entrepreneurship Tracks

Participants will follow either the employability or entrepreneurship track.

Employability Track: Participants will receive 30 hours of training on job search skills, preparing them to pursue jobs based on their past experience, abilities and market demand in their local areas.

 
Entrepreneurship Track: Participants will receive 45 hours of training on starting their own businesses. By the end of the training, they will develop business plans, validate business ideas and identify financing options.

Phase 3 - Pay-it-Forward Activity

Participants will also be prepared to deliver self-development sessions to youth in their communities.

 

Eligibility:

To be eligible to apply for this training opportunity, applicants should be:

  • Lebanese, Syrian or Palestinian nationals residing in Lebanon
  • young people experiencing difficult financial circumstances
  • 18 - 30 years old
  • currently unemployed and serious about finding a job or establishing a business
  • able to fully commit to all phases of this intensive training program

Shortlisted candidates will be required to do a placement test and an interview before finalists are selected.

Citi - Skills for Success (مهارات النجاح)

Looking for a job or want to start a business? 

AMIDEAST and the Citi Foundation will train 72 youth on finding a job or starting their own business. Participants will benefit from 275 hours of training over a 10-month period, divided into three phases.

تقدم أمديست ومؤسسة سيتي تدريباً الى 72 شاباً وشابة لتساعدهم على إيجاد وظيفة أو تأسيس مشروع خاص بهم لمدة عشرة أشهر ويستفيد المشاركون فيه من أكثر من 275 ساعة تدريب على مراحل ثلاث. تعرف إلى مضمون البرنامج وشروطه باللغتين العربية و الإنكليزية.

 
Phase 1: Personal & Professional Skills

In this phase, you will grow critical personal and professional skills relevant to most careers, divided per the following: 

  • 150 hours of English language communication for the workplace
  • 40 hours of computer and IT skills
  • 35 hours of workplace readiness skills and entrepreneurial mindset
  • 10 hours of personal development and decision-making

Phase 2: Employability & Entrepreneurship Tracks

Based on your qualifications and goals, you will receive training in either employability or entrepreneurship skills.

For the employability track, participants will practice their skills in an internship and receive 40 hours of training on job search skills to pursue entry-level jobs. As for those participants on the entrepreneurship track, participants will receive 45 hours of training on starting a business plus group-based and individual mentoring and coaching.

Phase 3: Pay-It-Forward

To share what they have learned with others and maximize the impact of the program on the community, participants from both tracks will be prepared to deliver self-development sessions to youth in their communities.

 

Who should apply?

To be eligible to apply for this training opportunity, applicants should be:

  • Lebanese youth aged 20-24 with a university or equivalent vocational degree
  • Young people experiencing difficult financial circumstances
  • Currently unemployed and serious about finding a job or establishing a business
  • Able to fully commit to all phases of this intensive training program

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®

Why the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification?

The CAPM® certification is one of the best ways to advance project assignment responsibilities or to advance your career. This credential can go a long way toward enhancing your employment and/or project assignment responsibilities and getting you recognized in the workplace.

Who Should Attend?

The course is recommended for project team members and entry-level or junior project managers, as well as qualified undergraduate and graduate students, who want a credential to recognize their value to project team performance. The main pre-requisites for taking the CAPM® exam according to PMI®:

  • High School diploma, Associate Degree (or global equivalent)
  • 1,500 hours of work on a project team
  • 23 hours of formal education in Project Management

Course Information

The course and program materials will be in English. The duration of the course is 23 hours to cover knowledge areas defined by the Project Management Institute. This includes understanding the management of integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communications, risk, procurement, and stakeholders.

Individuals who have attained the Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential are not eligible to take the CAPM® examination or to receive the CAPM® credential.
