The latest TESOL Language Bulletin included a couple of interesting announcements this week:
- TESOL is updating their bestselling book, New Ways in Teaching Reading, and is seeking contributors. Teaching English language reading skills to young learners and teaching reading using the Internet will be the two areas of focus for the additions. Contributions should be 400-800 words and follow a standard lesson plan format described on TESOL's site. Deadline is November 1, 2011; contact editor Richard Day if interested.
- TESOL is also taking its widely used directory of degree and certificate programs for English language teachers online and making it part of a wider ranging "English Language Professionals Resource Guide" covering varied products and services for ELT professionals. Note that adding listings, at least for the topics I chose (testing, standardized tests) is for a fee and you don't see the fee until you've put in all your profile information. Very annoying. I suspect there may be a way of putting in some kind of basic listing for free, or at least lower cost, but couldn't find out how. Let me know if you find out, and I will do the same.
Thanks!
