BESIG Monthly Webinars
If you haven’t heard of BESIG (and I hadn’t until a few months back when I started following their Twitter posts) they are the business English special interest group of the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL). IATEFL is based in the U.K. and draws the bulk of their membership from outside the U.S. but, like TESOL in the U.S., they are a global organization useful for English teachers worldwide. And, in my opinion, BESIG stands out in the variety and depth of its resources for teachers of business English.

A new activity for them is a series of  professional development workshops that are given online. These live events are open to all interested, whether they are BESIG members or not (all the sessions are recorded, and the past ones can be accessed by BESIG members only).

The next workshop will be held this Sunday, June 19, at 10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and focuses on “Video Stories for Business English.” It is presented by Jamie Keddie, founder of www.lessonstream.org , formerly TEFL Clips and a winner of the British Council ELTons award.

BESIG workshops will continue to be held throughout 2011, typically to be held on the last Sunday of each month. To learn more and to register, visit the BESIG site.
