Overview:

The Senior English Language Teacher will coordinate Public English Language classes, and program expansion and development for the Oman Field Office.

Description of Responsibilities:

Tasks and responsibilities for this position, listed below, may include other duties as assigned by the Country Director.
• Develop and manage English Language (EL) courses for the general public:
• identify needs and niches
• select appropriate course materials and create curricula
• identify suitable placement tests for all courses
• assist with development and implementation of administrative systems as needed
• Schedule and supervise EL instructors and administrative staff for public course operation
• Help train and evaluate EL instructors and public classes
• Teach two English Language courses (up to 16 hours per week)
• Design and conduct new EL programs, as needed
• Monitor best practices and new developments in the fields of EL and ensure that AMIDEAST’s programs reflect those best practices
• Prepare and submit narrative and statistical EL reports, with input from EL staff
• Communicate with AMIDEAST headquarters and other AMIDEAST field offices
• Represent AMIDEAST at relevant conferences, seminars and exhibitions
• Establish, foster and maintain positive relations with clients, partners and the general public

Required Qualifications:

• Five years of English Language teaching experience
• Two years of program development and management experience
• Native English speaker
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Office programs
• Demonstrated skills in marketing and promotion
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Must possess problem-solving skills, be a team player and a self-starter
• Cross-cultural sensitivity and customer service orientation
• Availability to work hours in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week as needed
• Availability for travel both within and outside Oman
