Key Facts of about the LFP MENA program:  24 Fellows will be selected from three countries (8 each from Libya, Tunisia, and Egypt) to participate in a month-long, fellowship experience in U.S. Congressional offices, federal agencies, advocacy groups, and grassroots organizations. 

Developing Rehabilitation Assistance to Schools and Teachers Improvement (D-RASATI) will improve educational outcomes in Lebanon by improving teacher and student performance, increasing community and parental involvement, and improving the school learning environment.  D-RASATI is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Introduction
The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Alumni Network aims to create a sustainable network of civil society activists, business professionals, and entrepreneurs that benefited from MEPI projects across the MENA region. Through this network, MEPI Alumni will have the opportunity to meet and connect so they can inspire each other and work together on advancing reform in the region through a variety of activities including trainings and workshops, panel discussions, and community projects.

AMIDEAST/Jordan, through a grant from MEPI, is managing the Egypt and Jordan branches of the MEPI Alumni Network. Both the Egypt and Jordan chapters organize workshops and trainings covering a variety of topical subjects including:

PYCE's two principal objectives are:

• to strengthen the role of community actors in positively influencing Yemeni youth, and 
• to support the establishment and expansion of youth sports and recreational opportunities.

Program activities include promoting and facilitating positive relations between youth and moderate community leaders; forming governorate Steering Committees to stimulate and coordinate beneficial youth activities, and the establishment of the PYCE Peer Network; providing rapid response mini-grants for Peer Network members; renovating selected youth clubs; and supporting the establishment and expansion of youth sports and recreational programs, including  training coaches and sports officials, equipment grants, and establishing sports leagues and formal competitions.

Program Description

AMIDEAST is working to support MEPI to promote civic participation by supporting Palestinian MEPI alumni in their role as reformers in their home communities. AMIDEAST will plan and implement activities in Palestine that will support MEPI in achieving three objectives:

برنامج تدريبي ممول من قبل مكتب الوزيرة لقضايا النساء العالمية التابع لوزارة الخارجية الأميركية.

يقوم حالياً مكتب الوزيرة لمسائل النساء العالمية التابع لوزارة الخارجية الأميركية بقبول طلبات الترشيح للنساء العراقيات القياديات المؤهلات والعاملات في مجالي القانون والمجتمع المدني للمشاركة في برنامج تدريبي مصمم لتوسيع الفرص للنساء في المجتمع العراقي. سيتم البرنامج في الولايات المتحدة باللغة الإنكليزية مع ترجمة متزامنة إلى العربية ويستمر لمدة اسبوعين.

English language classes will be offered by AMIDEAST through a sub-grant from the USAID funded, EDC administered Ruwwad youth development program.  Classes will be held at Youth Development Resource Center (YDRC) facilities in Jabal Annar Club in Nablus, Al Bireh Youth Foundaton in Al Bireh, and Beit Al-Tifel Club in Hebron.  The training will include classroom sessions and online components.  Students who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate.  While the training sessions do not cost anything, the cost of books and transportation will be the responsibility of the students.

All applicants will be required to sit for an English language placement test as part of the selection and placement process for the training program.

English language training will take place over a 15 week term and begin during the middle of January, 2011.  Classes will take place three times per week, and last for two hours each.   Students will complete a total of 90 hours of classroom training and 70 hours of online lessons by the end of the program.
