APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED for the 2014-16 Fulbright Foreign Student Program!

This prestigious scholarship program, launched by the U.S. Congress and the late U.S. senator William J. Fulbright in 1946, allows outstanding students worldwide to study at U.S. universities to further their academic and professional careers as well as to promote international cultural understanding.  

Iraqis with outstanding bachelor degrees who are interested in pursuing graduate degrees in the U.S. are urged to apply online to the program.  The scholarship will fund up to two years of study at a U.S. university, at the Master's degree level. All disciplines and academic fields of study are available under this program, with the exception of medicine and other clinical studies. 35 Fulbright student scholarships are expected to be awarded for study beginning in the fall of 2014.

Participation in the Fulbright Program is an opportunity for exceptional Iraqi students to experience life in the United States first-hand. Iraqi Fulbright students also have the opportunity to share Iraq's rich culture with Americans and to serve as "student ambassadors," both in the classroom and in everyday life.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program in Iraq seeks to develop future leaders in all fields and to contribute to the educational goals of both countries.  The Bi-national Fulbright Selection Committee at the U.S. Embassy selects candidates from a variety of academic disciplines, from all parts of Iraq.  The program provides funding for tuition, round-trip international travel, living stipends, and health insurance.

Applicants must:

ÿ        Be Iraqi citizens living in Iraq.

ÿ        Hold a B.A. or B.S. degree.

ÿ        Be proficient in English with the ability to score 550 or more on the TOEFL exam. 

ÿ        Write their research objectives and personal statements themselves, without copying from the internet or any other source (this is considered plagiarism and applicants will be immediately disqualified as a result.

ÿ        Demonstrate a clear commitment to return to Iraq after completion of study.

تقبل أمديست حالياً طلبات باسم مؤسسة الزمالة للنساء العراقيات للسنة الثانية في برنامج النساء العراقيات العاملات في مجال العلوم التطبيقية والهندسة، وهو عبارة عن زمالة لمدة سنة واحدة في جامعة أميركية، وتشتمل على شهرين للتدرب على اللغة الإنجليزية قبل الدراسة الأكاديمية. وهذا البرنامج ممول من خلال مصادر متعددة وتديره أمديست.

برنامج تدريبي ممول من قبل مكتب الوزيرة لقضايا النساء العالمية التابع لوزارة الخارجية الأميركية.

يقوم حالياً مكتب الوزيرة لقضايا النساء العالمية التابع لوزارة الخارجية الأميركية بقبول طلبات الترشيح للنساء العراقيات القياديات المؤهلات والعاملات في مجالي القانون والمجتمع المدني للمشاركة في برنامج تدريبي مصمم لتوسيع الفرص للنساء في المجتمع العراقي. سيتم البرنامج في الولايات المتحدة باللغة الإنكليزية مع ترجمة متزامنة إلى العربية ويستمر لمدة اسبوعين.

A training program funded by the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues of the United States Department of State

The Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues of the U.S. Department of State is accepting nominations for qualified Iraqi women leaders in legal and civil society professions for a training program designed to expand opportunities for women in Iraqi society. The two-week program will be conducted in the U.S. in English, with simultaneous interpretation into Arabic.
