Introducing new summer offerings in Egypt on the following topics: politics, engineering, Arabic language, and service learning

AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs in the Arab World is accepting applications for four new programs that will be offered in the heart of Cairo this coming summer.

Contemporary Egyptian Politics: The objective of the course is to understand the historical, cultural, economic, social, and political forces in Egypt today as it evolves from an authoritarian regime into a new democracy.

History of Engineering: Topics addressed during the course range from ancient engineering feats such as the temples and monuments of ancient Egypt to ancient and modern water resource management and irrigation. The course addresses the History of Engineering through lectures, discussions and numerous site visits and excursions.

Intensive Arabic in Cairo: The bustling city of Cairo serves as an excellent environment in which to learn Modern Standard and Egyptian colloquial Arabic. For those students looking to quickly improve their Arabic, they can enroll in a rigorous 4-week or 8-week intensive summer session in the heart of the Arab world.

Learn & Serve in Cairo: Learn & Serve in Egypt is a unique summer education abroad opportunity for undergraduate students to study in the Middle East/North Africa region and engage in an intense service learning experience with local non-governmental organizations. Students simultaneously study Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, allowing them to practice speaking the most widely understood Arabic dialect, while undertaking an international internship in Cairo, the Arab world’s most populous city.

Additional Program Information

All of our students live in Dokki in the heart of Cairo, just a short walk from the banks of the Nile. There, students engage in experiential learning every day by shopping in local markets, haggling with taxis, and frequenting local cafes with Egyptian friends. Students who study with AMIDEAST in Egypt discover the dynamic and rich side of Cairo.
