On this page study abroad advisors will find information about the transcript process at AMIDEAST. An in depth description of AMIDEAST grade reports versus transcripts from AMIDEAST’s Institution of Record, Northeastern University (NU), will be provided. For institutions who have received a student transcript from our Institution of Record (IoR), this page gives a list of AMIDEAST –NU course equivalences to assist in the credit transfer process.
Upon successful completion of an AMIDEAST Education Abroad program, students will be issued either an AMIDEAST grade report or a transcript from AMIDEAST’s IoR. AMIDEAST Headquarters issues grade reports to home institutions 4-6 weeks after completion of the program. In Morocco, all students receive a transcript from AMIDEAST’s partner institution in Rabat, Mohammed V University, in place of an AMIDEAST grade report. These transcripts will also be issued 4-6 weeks following the completion of a program.
Alternatively, students can request (for an additional fee of $350) a transcript issued by AMIDEAST’s IoR. Should a home institution advisor indicate that a student needs to use the IoR, the student (or in some cases the institution) will be billed for this fee. This fee is refundable until the student is a confirmed participant. Upon successful completion of a program, AMIDEAST will submit final grades and credits to Northeastern University. Students who have requested a transcript from the IoR will be able to request transcripts from Northeastern within 8-10 weeks of the end of the program. A request to receive a transcript from NU can only be made prior to the start of the program. The request is made on the Study Abroad Advisor Form (available on the online application website) which is submitted in the application process. Academic year students will only be charged the IoR fee once.
All AMIDEAST grade reports, Mohammed V University transcripts, and NU transcripts indicate letter grades and credit received. One grade report or Mohammed V University transcript will be sent to a students’ home institution and one will remain at the AMIDEAST office in Washington, D.C. Grade reports and transcripts will be sent to the address indicated on the student’s Advisor Form, submitted prior to the program start date. Students who have indicated they need a transcript from NU are responsible for requesting NU transcripts directly and these transcripts not sent from the Washington, D.C. office.
Grades will not be released for a student until he/she:
The grades recorded on AMIDEAST Grade Reports are reported using the American system based on 4.0 as the top grade. The course titles and numbers are those used in our programs. All grade reports are authorized by Director of Education Abroad, Jerome Bookin-Weiner, prior to their mailing.
The basis on which semester credits are awarded is as follows:
15 contact hours= 1 semester credit
45 contact hours = 3 credits
80 contact hours = 5 credits (for Arabic language courses)
Course numbers indicate the level of the course:
1XX= first year course
2XX= second year course
3XX= third year course
4XX= fourth year course
Prior to the program start date, students requiring an IoR transcript must complete and return an Undergraduate Special Student Information Form for Northeastern University. Students who have indicated they need an IoR will be emailed this form prior to the start of the AMIDEAST program. As mentioned above, AMIDEAST will send final grades and credits to Northeastern University. Students will then be notified directly by the Registrar at Northeastern when their grades have been posted. Students are responsible for requesting these transcripts directly and for ensuring that they are sent to the appropriate office at their home institution.
When an institution receives an IoR transcript, the student’s courses will be displayed with the Northeastern (NU) course code and title, which vary from the official AMDIEAST course codes and titles. Attached is a table which indicates the AMIDEAST-NU equivalencies.
