America-Mideast Educational and Training Services,
Inc. (AMIDEAST) is a private, nonprofit organization
working to strengthen mutual understanding and
cooperation between Americans and the people of
the Middle East and North Africa. Headquartered
in Washington, DC, AMIDEAST maintains a network
of field offices located in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait,
Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, the United Arab
Emirates, the West Bank/Gaza Strip, and Yemen.

AMIDEAST pursues its mission through a variety of programs and
services. Over the years, over 2.5 million students and professionals
have benefited from AMIDEAST's educational advising services in
the Middle East and North Africa. Since 1975, AMIDEAST has supervised
or administered more than 660,000 standardized tests. More than
78,000 individuals have participated in AMIDEAST-administered
education, training, and institutional strengthening programs.
Tens of thousands of American educators and students have used
AMIDEAST's publications and videos to guide their professional
and educational encounters with the Arab world.
Headed by former U.S. Ambassador William A. Rugh, AMIDEAST employs
over 200 staff persons worldwide, most of whom are professionals
with long experience in international education, the Middle East
and North Africa, and U.S. higher education and training.
