In 2007, AMIDEAST operated 24 field and project offices in 13 countries, provided more than 260,000 individuals with information and materials on U.S. higher education and testing, administered 130,800 computer-, paper-, and Internet-based tests, taught English language and professional skills to more than 82,400 students and professionals from across the Middle East/North Africa, and supported short- and long-term international scholarship and exchange programs for nearly 1,500 participants.
AMIDEAST is supported by contract fees for services, restricted grants for specific projects, and unrestricted donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals. Contributions help AMIDEAST educate Americans about the Middle East and North Africa, offer educational services for study in the United States, develop new projects, and extend services to more countries in the Middle East and North Africa. AMIDEAST is a nonprofit organization exempt from income taxes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to AMIDEAST qualify for tax deduction under Section 170 of the Code. AMIDEAST is proud to record the participation of its board members in the contributions program. We are deeply grateful to all of our donors for their generosity during 2007.
